Getting to the Atomium

Located on the northern Heysel Plateau in Brussels, the Atomium is easily accessible via direct metro, tram, bicycle paths, and major motorways.

Getting to Heysel by Public Transit

Brussels public transport operator STIB/MIVB provides fast, frequent connections from every train station and city center hub.

By Metro (Fastest & Most Popular)

Metro Line 6 (Blue Line) — Stop: Heysel / Heizel

Take Metro Line 6 toward 'Roi Baudouin' and disembark at 'Heysel' station.
From Gare du Midi / Brussels South (Eurostar/Thalys): Direct Line 6 (approx. 18 minutes).
From Gare Centrale / Brussels Central: Take Line 1 or 5 to 'Beekkant', transfer to Line 6 toward Roi Baudouin (approx. 20-25 minutes).
Upon exiting Heysel station, follow the signposts through the park — the Atomium is a 5-minute flat walk away.

Tip: Contactless payment (EMV) via debit/credit card or smartphone is accepted at all STIB/MIVB subway gates.

By Tram

Tram Lines 7 and 51 — Stop: Heysel / Centenaire

Tram Line 7: Connects the eastern side of Brussels (Vanderkindere / Montgomery) directly to Heysel terminal.
Tram Line 51: Runs from Van Haelen / Stade to Heysel.
Tram Line 9: Connects Simonis and northwestern Brussels to Roi Baudouin (1 stop from Heysel).

Tip: Tram 7 offers scenic above-ground travel across the city's green boulevards.

By City Bus

STIB Bus Line 83 & De Lijn Regional Buses

STIB Bus 83: Stops at 'Heysel' connecting Berchem Station and Val Maria.
Night Bus N18 (Noctis weekend night network) services Heysel back to Central Brussels until 3:00 AM.
De Lijn Buses 240, 241, 242, 243, 250, 251, and 260 connect northern Flemish Brabant to Heysel.

Dedicated Cyclist Paths & Villo! Stations

Bicycle racks are available directly in front of the Atomium entrance pavilion.
Villo! Bike Station #281 (Heysel / Atomium) is situated at the exit of Heysel metro station.
A pleasant 25-minute scenic bike ride from Brussels City Center through the Royal Greenhouses park area.

Driving & Visitor Car Parking

The Atomium is situated near the Brussels Ring Road (R0). Take Exit 7A (Wemmel) or Exit 8 (Wemmel / Heysel) and follow the large 'Atomium' signs.
